What is UO?
Ultima Online is an MMORPG, which stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Also referred to as a Virtual
World, an MMORPG is a place you co-inhabit with hundreds of thousands of other people simultaneously. It's persistent in that
the world exists independent of your presence, and in that your actions can permanently shape the world.
Ultima Online is accessed through an Internet connection, giving you the ability to immerse yourself into the mystical,
medieval world of Britannia with other players from all around the globe. You can actually become a part of the epic saga
that unfolds on a daily basis, and your actions can make a permanent impact on the face of Britannia!
There has yet to be a virtual world that even comes close to the number of things you can do in Ultima Online. There are
thousands of items in the game that you can make, buy, or carry; and with dozens of unique skills to master, you'll never
run out of ways to continuously evolve your character and your online persona.
Really, UO is whatever you make it to be. Decide you want to try something different? In Ultima Online, you're never locked
into a class or trade. Just start practicing something new, and your character will grow in whatever direction you choose!

With over 50 skills available in Ultima Online, you can customize your character in any way you want.
Combat Skills
Be a warrior and devote your life to defending Britannia against dangerous creatures and evil forces. Train your character
in skills like swordsmanship, fencing, mace fighting, parrying and wrestling to become the ultimate fighter. Or harness the
power of the wild and become an animal tamer, bending ferocious beasts to your will. You could even become a noble Paladin,
defender of all that is virtuous! It's up to you!

Feel the rush of success after you take down the mightiest of beasts!
Magic and Spells
Arm yourself with Words of Power and other magical components to become a powerful wizard, conjuring food out of thin
air and hurling fire from your fingertips. Or become an Alchemist and learn to mix potions of varying effects and strength.
And if it's the dark arts you prefer, become a Necromancer and control the undead! Whether you use your own spellcasting abilities
or smite your foes with powerful magic wands, the power of the arcane is within your grasp.

Try your hand at alchemy and see what potions you can create!
Crafting and Non-combat Skills
There are also many non-combat related skills available for those that prefer crafting over combat. Be a tailor and create
sensational garments, or a blacksmith that forges exceptional armor and weapons. Build furniture for houses as a carpenter,
or be a fisherman and ply your trade on the ocean blue.
In Ultima Online, you're not limited to strict classes or templates, since the flexibility of the system allows players
to mix and match skills. And you're never locked into a choice, since you can always go back and try out new skills. Play
a master chef who pickpockets his own tips from the customers, or perhaps the tinker's apprentice who secretly practices her
lute in hopes of one day becoming a famous bard. The choice is entirely yours.
Blacksmithing is only one of the many crafts you can master in UO. Create items to use yourself, or sell to other players!
Customizable Appearance
Players can choose from a wide range of attributes to give their characters their own unique look.
You can choose your hair style, hair color, skin tone, and clothing colors from an available list of choices when you
first create a character. Once in game, there are even more choices for hair color, garments, and armor for further customization.
Not only can you pick new garments to wear (dresses, kilts, fancy shirts, hats, footwear, and more), but you can also
dye them a myriad of hues, allowing you to mix and match styles to your heart's content. Be the first in Britannia to set
a new fashion trend, or scare your neighbors by wearing as many garish colors as possible - it's your choice!
Choose from an extensive selection of hairstyles, hair, skin and clothing colors, and starting skills to make your character
as unique as you are.

Traveling Britannia is not for landlubbers alone. The world of Ultima Online includes an enormous ocean environment, complete
with various sea creatures that you can hunt.
Six different sailing vessels of various sizes can be purchased for sea travel. Sail the ocean blue as a proud fisherman
and catch fish, footwear, or even a sea serpent! Or be a pirate and plunder other ships, hiding your treasure on an uncharted
island far away from those pesky adventurers.
Use boats to travel to distant places - or make it a lifestyle, and live off the sea!
Create an establishment!
Why go to town to visit a tavern when you can create your own? In Ultima Online, players have the option to open their
homes to the public. With the proper decorations and a staff of player-controlled NPCs (Non-Player Characters), anyone can

Create a tavern for those who prefer sharing good times with friends over a nice, frothy mug of ale. Or build the largest

indoor fountains, to fireplaces - and all from the thousands of items found in the game world. In no other game will you find
